Background: Hydronephrosis is a common finding in normal pregnancy. It the dilatation of renal calyces and pelvis by urine, as result obstruction outflow urine distal to pelvis. usually physiological. The objective this study was determine prevalence maternal hydronephrosis, correlate it with age, parity gestational age pregnancy Bayelsa State, Nigeria.Methods: This prospective conducted at obstetrics gynaecology, radiology departments two tertiary hospitals Nigeria, over six-month period. Sonographic measurements pelvicalyceal diameters 400 consecutive pregnant women were done, after written informed consent. Data entered into pre-designed proforma, analysed using Statistical Product Service Solutions (SPSS) version 25.0. Results presented frequencies percentages for categorical variables; mean standard deviation continuous Student’s t-test compare sample means; Chi-square associations.Results: Four hundred scanned. Pelvicalyceal present 144 (36%) women; affected one kidney 108 (27%) while 36 (9%) women, kidneys affected. Renal calculi 16 (4%) women. right 12 (3%) left 4 (1%) women.Conclusions: hydronephrosis lower than that from many centres. more on right, degree increased increasing age.
